Abstract

Bacillus cereus is a ubiquitous environmental micro-organism which is often a contaminant of clinical
cultures. Infections due to B. cereus are described, but
mostly in immunocompromised patients. We report a fatal outcome of B. cereus septicaemia in an immunocompetent patient with a mechanical mitral valve.
