Abstract

Systemic side effects of nitrofurantoin are rare but can
be life-threatening. Serious side effects are pulmonary
involvement and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. We report a case of a patient developing circulatory and renal failure together with eosinophilia and a rash. This syndrome of drug rash, eosinophilia and systemic symptoms is called DRESS syndrome.
